The president, Laura Chinchilla, and the Minister of the Presidency, Marco Vargas, begin today to test the legal field for the Draft Electricity Law, which the Government is still under review.

Representatives of the Citizen Action Party (PAC) are the first to respond to the call for today at 10 am at Zapote.

Although apparently the idea was to meet with heads of fraction, the PAC will forward to the bench "in full", comprised of 11 legislators.

The government of Laura Chinchilla, promote the creation of a regulatory framework that allows homeowners and businesses to install small power plants to feed themselves and put the remainder in the National Electric System.

This was said Teofilo de la Torre, Minister of Environment, in an interview with The Nation a few days of taking office.

This initiative is also provided in the Energy Plan that is included in the Programme of Government of the new president.

The Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) seeks to increase by 28% the amount of electricity produced by alternative sources over the next five years.

Today, the country uses only 2% of the energy potential which comes from natural resources such as water, wind, volcanic gases and gases from the combustion of waste or biomass (27,600 megawatts).

Yesterday at 6.10 pm the whole Dennis Meléndez ratified as the new regulatory environment of public services.

Melendez was appointed to the Regulatory Authority for Public Services (Aresep) by the Governing Council.

That designation was supported by most members of the Nominating Committee of Parliament yesterday ratified the decision by 39 votes in the whole favor and 10 against.
